RBS Tzedaka

Rehabilitation
love, dedication and professionalism

The Kupa shel Tzedaka works to rehabilitate every family in accordance with its specific needs. The Kupa’s volunteers are available to the families, offering them love, dedication and professionalism. The process can be divided into two components:  financial assistance and comprehensive reconstruction.

What we do

The following is a glimpse into one of the hundreds of cases handled by the Kupa. The family in this story may be your neighbors or friends, people whom you know – but you may never have realized it.

Generating New Ideas. Solving Big Problems

A family with eight children had made aliyah a year earlier but they hadn’t yet established themselves financially. The mother wanted to remain in Israel, but the father, who had been very successful in his business overseas, preferred to return to their country of origin. Their differences of opinion put a tremendous strain on their relationship. Mired in their own strife, the parents were not able to take care of their children and the children became emotionally and physically neglected. One child suffered from a chronic illness which was being neglected and a daughter sank into a severe depression that manifested itself in extremely disturbing symptoms.

Here is an overview of how this situation was handled by the Kupa.

Shevat 5773:  The Kupa’s experts conducted the requisite investigation and took several steps. Firstly, a female volunteer from the Kupa stepped in and took responsibility for the daughter suffering from depression. The young lady moved into the volunteer’s home for a period of time and received psychiatric treatment and therapy while she was closely monitored. The parents were not interested in marriage therapy or financial guidance, but they were willing to accept vouchers for clothing and groceries. The monthly vouchers for chicken and the targeted financial support they received enabled them to begin living a normal life again. The sick child received the parental attention he needed.

Av 5774:  The daughter enrolled in a seminary in the south of Israel where she flourished. She continued receiving psychotherapy twice a week and was weaned off of her medications. The parents separated and the mother moved with her children to a different city.

Cheshvan 5775:  The young lady made a complete recovery. She continued her studies in the seminary, where she was highly successful.

Tishrei 5776:  When the young lady became engaged to an outstanding young man the Kupa helped marry them off with dignity. After a joyous wedding, the couple settled in the south.

Tishrei 5778:  The young couple has been blessed with a precious child. The entire “family” of the Kupa shel Tzedaka was overjoyed to celebrate the bris along with them. The young lady is working in special education, and she and her husband have established a beautiful Jewish home.

This project involved hundreds of hours of rehabilitation and therapy, extensive coordination between the volunteers dealing with the situation, and the expenditure of tens of thousands of shekels to save the daughter from descending into an abyss from which she might never return.

The effort was enormous, but the results were well worth it.

Sometimes, an intelligent plan of action can make all the difference.
